Attachment style test

Understand the worries and the need for distance that can show up in close relationships.

Start test

See the attachment tendency your answers lean toward, with the two dimensions behind it.

Think about how you generally experience romantic relationships, not only what is happening today. If you cannot relate a question to your experience, you can leave and return later.

These questionnaires are for adults. Choose answers for yourself, not on someone else’s behalf.

What is this test based on?

What it explores
The ECR-R adult attachment questionnaire explores worries about a partner’s responsiveness and unease with dependence or closeness.
How it is scored
Each of the 36 statements is rated from 1 to 7. The two sets of 18 answers are averaged separately after reverse-scoring the specified items.
How to read it
Start with the suggested tendency, then read the two dimensions together. Scores near the boundary keep two possibilities open; unclear results are not forced into a type.

Our interpretation uses below 3 as lower, above 5 as higher, and 3–5 inclusive as unclear on each dimension. Lower anxiety and avoidance suggest secure; higher anxiety and lower avoidance suggest anxious; lower anxiety and higher avoidance suggest avoidant; both higher suggest fearful-avoidant. One unclear dimension gives two possibilities; both unclear give no clear tendency. These are site reading rules, not official ECR-R type cut-offs. Chinese wording is a site translation.
