Words of affirmation
For some people, care feels clearer when it is spoken or written. Specific appreciation often communicates more than a grand but vague compliment.
What you might notice
You may remember a message that recognised your effort or a conversation that made you feel understood. Consider which words felt sincere, who said them, and what they referred to.
A practical starting point
Instead of “You’re amazing,” try naming the action and its effect: “You listened without interrupting, and I felt less alone.” Ask which kinds of encouragement the other person welcomes.
Keep the distinction clear
Words are one expression of care, not a replacement for reliable actions. A high preference score does not require constant praise or make hurtful behaviour acceptable.
