Receiving gifts
A gift can represent attention: someone remembered a detail, a shared experience or something you enjoy. The meaning need not come from its price.
What you might notice
A handwritten note, a useful small item or a reminder of a shared day may matter more than an expensive surprise. Think about why a particular gift stayed with you.
A practical starting point
Share a story about a meaningful gift and the thought behind it. Set a comfortable budget when exchanging gifts; surprises are not more important than each person’s circumstances.
Keep the distinction clear
A preference for gifts is not a measure of materialism. Gifts also cannot replace an apology, consent or everyday respect.
